MN: Tonali passes another difficult test and demonstrates his attachment to the colours

By Oliver Fisher -

There were many positives from AC Milan’s comeback win over Inter on Saturday, and one of them was the fact we saw yet another sumptuous performance by Sandro Tonali.

MilanNews reports how Tonali represents a player totally changed compared to last season, when he arrived from Brescia to play for his boyhood club amid big expectations and some comparisons that only served to heap pressure on the 21-year-old’s shoulders, given he was likened both to Pirlo and to Gattuso.

However, with hard work he has been able to improve and now he really is beginning to resemble Gennaro Gattuso but not just in his technical characteristics. In Sandro we can see the same determination and the same passion for the Rossoneri shirt, fighting until the last second of all matches.

A striking example was when he shoved Denzel Dumfries away as the Inter defender was trying to pick up Theo Hernandez who was on the ground after a foul. The Milan midfielder sent him away, demonstrating a competitive enthusiasm that distinguishes him from all the other midfielders in his age group.

He has become indispensable for Pioli’s game system and he had moments in the derby where he showed himself to be stronger even than Barella, such as when he bumped him off the ball and then started an attack.
