CM.it: Milan could please Pioli with Giroud renewal and a new striker

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan could make head coach Stefano Pioli very happy in January or the summer by securing the renewal of Olivier Giroud whilst also signing a new striker, a report claims.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.it, the Rossoneri are very confident that Giroud will be extending his stay at the club very soon given his current contract is going to expire at the end of this season.

The Frenchman will soon hold talks with the club but there are no serious fears that an agreement will not be found.

He can then be provided with adequate cover as the club looks to sign a new striker to challenge him for the starting place in attack.

There are plenty of potential names being discussed from Lois Openda to Jonathan David and then Roland Kolo Muani to Patrick Schick. A move of this nature may need to wait until the summer for financial reasons.

  1. Patrik Shick had a great start of his serie A career but heart problems derailed everything.
He had a great season last year with Leverkusen. 24 goals in 27 games
He has had a slow start this year but if he could be had for 20-25 mil, I’ll take him over the other 3 players .
Still only 26, knows the league. He is big , he is relatively quick and he can actually drop back and be part of the build up, something that we have missed with Zlatan being hobbled by injuries or out. Nothing against Giroud but he has never been good outside of the box.
