AC Milan’s Primavera side are top of the league after winning their second game in two to begin the new campaign, and head coach Federico Guidi was happy with what he saw.
After their 4-0 victory over Udinese, the Primavera beat Torino 2-0 yesterday remain top of the league on maximum points alongside Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio, but ahead of them on goal difference. Goals from Bakoune and Bonomi won the game for the Rossoneri.
Guidi spoke to Milan TV after the game to reflect on what was another positive performance and result, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“It was a difficult, complicated match. It was unthinkable that it wasn’t. We were facing a team that will be a protagonist in the Primavera season. Let’s not forget that a fortnight ago at ‘Mamma Cairo’ we had conceded five goals,” he said.
“We knew it was a match where we had to suffer and the boys read the match very well, they knew how to suffer when necessary, they conceded very little to an extremely good team.
“We ended the match with extremely positive feelings with the awareness that there is still a lot of room for improvement because it is a new team, that is getting to know each other. And if the boys continue to work like this they will get some satisfaction.
“It’s not easy against opponents of this physicality and speed to concede so little. Above all, the boys never lowered their heads, always trying to turn the action around and keep the ball protected. I liked the attitude, I’m extremely satisfied.
“There are some things we can improve. Sometimes we are too hasty with the ball at our feet and I would like to see them play with more calm, personality and courage.
“I like their attitude when the opponents have the ball: there is great concentration, the team gives little away. Characteristics that at this age make them the age that will distinguish them for the future.”
