Milan Primavera make Youth League history: the Final Four date, venue and opponent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan gained access to the Youth League semi-finals by beating Real Madrid in the quarters on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time yesterday.

The team coached by Ignazio Abate will therefore go to Switzerland at the end of April for the second time in a row to play the semi-final and hopefully this time the eventual grand final.

Last season they got there and faced off against Hajduk Split, a team that were substantially older in average age and were also backed by hundreds of fans. They eventually prevailed 2-1.

Milan Primavera, who are of course managed by Ignazio Abate, made it to the final four last year for the first time in the club’s history and they are now the first ever Italian team to get there two seasons in a row.

Date and time

The semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League will be played on Friday 19 April, while the final will be on Monday 22 April. The games will be played at the at the Center Sportif de Colovray in Nyon, Switzerland, where the UEFA headquarters are.

It has already been decided that the Rossoneri will challenge Porto while on the other side it will be between Olympiacos and Nantes for a spot in the final.

Just as in the previous knockout stages, the regulation stated that after the 90 minutes of normal time there will be an immediate penalty shoot-out rather than extra-time.
