This afternoon, we have learnt that AC Milan are ready to send a new bid to Brighton for Pervis Estupinan.
In the past few days, the chase for Estupinan has been massively ramped up, with Milan heading away to Asia for their pre-season tour. So, with the aim of giving Massimiliano Allegri a ‘complete’ squad, the transfer department has been working hard.

A number of targets have been evaluated more in the past week, and Estupinan’s name has been on the rise massively. In fact, the club even sent their first bid earlier in the week, but it was seen as too low by the Premier League outfit.

It was never going to be the only bid sent by the Rossoneri, so they are preparing to return to the table with a new bid. As our colleague Luca Maninetti reports, the Diavolo are ‘ready’ to make a new offer of €18 million for the full-back.
Whilst it is still short of the Seagulls’ valuation of the defender, it is not far off the €23m sought. So, Milan will also include some bonuses to get closer to that figure. The club are optimistic that he can be Theo’s replacement, so perhaps this latest move could be enough to seal a deal.

Of course to point about bonuses is that the team and the player should meet in order to get paid. But the issue is that u are probably differing 10-15 Mil of your future earnings and there is probably a provision set for how much that can go up to for the club.

Example, If he plays 30 games in a season we pay you 7M and another 3M if we qualify for CL. How is it better to pay upfront and why would anyone be reserved about being able to get proof before paying?

Goku, the way Transfermarkt does the injury thing is misleading. You need to look at his game stats as well to figure it out. If you do, you’ll see that Estupinan made 30 2024/25 PL appearances for 2,403 minutes. That’s an average of 80 min per game. Given this average, it’s fair to say he started the majority of those games.
He made all of Brighton’s FA Cup appearances for 290 minutes over 3 games. That’s an average of 96 minutes per game, so he started each one and wasn’t even subbed off.
He made all of Brighton’s EFL Cup appearances for 154 minutes over 3 games. That’s an average of 52 minutes per game, so here he might have been subbed off at half time, or started one, and come on as a sub for the other two. Regardless, he was available for, and played in, all three.
So basically he failed to appear in 8 out of the 38 PL games last season. With four of those for the muscle injury you point to in January 2025 (see nytimes.com/athletic/6150797/2025/02/21/brighton-team-news-estupinan-injury/), and the other four at the very start of the season as he was completing his recovery for the ankle injury suffered in April 2024 (see nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/premier-league-news-scores-live-updates/5QL15bkSRzqN/EVcm5g2Gmuoy/). The conclusion is that he had a pretty full season in 2024-25 post-ankle injury, with one muscle injury that cost 4 games.
Finally, a look in Transfermarkt under Stats -> All Seasons, shows a player who has largely enjoyed full seasons, aside from that 2023-24 season in which he was marred by injury.
P.S. If you go to Estupian’s Transfermakrt page, go to Stats -> Filter by competition = Premier League, and then scroll down, it will show you he was active from Matchday 3 in the 2024/25 season (finishing his ankle injury recover), and only missed four games after that, Matchday 4 (so maybe not yet 100% match fit), Matchday 19 (not in squad), Matchdays 23-25 (the muscle injury), the very last game of the season (not in squad). Note the minutes played in the far right column. The vast majority are 90 minutes.
