Sky: Milan hit a roadblock in talks with Romagnoli – renewal becomes ‘very complicated’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan might not only lose Franck Kessie on a free transfer as they are also making no headway in talks over Alessio Romagnoli’s renewal, it is claimed.

Speaking live on Sky (via MilanNews), Manuele Baiocchini discussed Kessie’s contractual situation and the negotiation over the renewal of his deal which expires at the end of the season, or rather the lack of a negotiation because the two parties are standing very firm in their respective stances and the chances of him extending are ‘almost zero’.

He also spoke about the renewal situation surrounding Romagnoli too, confirming that at the moment there is no great possibility that he extends his current contract. The parties have met several times, with Mino Raiola being his agent, but no agreement has yet been found.

It is a situation that is ‘not as difficult as Kessie’ but ‘certainly very complicated’, so it seems if Maldini and Massara want to keep the club captain they will have to come back with a fresh attempt.

  1. This is ridiculous. Just resign the guy with a little better offer. We have a few holes to fill that will be very expensive and if we lose him for free you can add CB to that list… come on Milan. This is nuts.

    1. Doing that would be a €30-40m commitment though (assuming something like a 3 year deal), with ever decreasing value on the player due to age, so I can understand why both parties would prefer another outcome, but it’s possible that neither will get a better one. Especially factoring in Raiola’s fees, I’d understand if Milan would prefer to invest that in a younger player with more potential resale value.

  2. Just getting sick of Sam’s sh*t happening every time…losing good players on free and not able to make big signings…then selling young players for penny saying in the end…we did it for captial gains…we should stop losing player for free for godsake ..we are just becoming laughing stock…

  3. Romagnoli does not deserve a pay rise nor even the same salary. Its not smart to give in to his demands and HOPE his performances improve or that you sell.him.off. he can decide to warm the bench with his new wages. Ozil did so.
Kessie does not deserve 8m either. Stamina? Yes. He has. Penalties? He is not the only one who can take them.
Raiola has the M.O of milking clubs and getting a huge commission. Donnarumma left for basically the same wages. Hakan left for #500k more.
Let both leave, maldini did not sign them. Fasobelli did, they squandered money on whims. It will take some fixing. I’ll take Tomori & To all I over both of them any day!

    1. You do realise that he agreed to get half his current salary right? He wants 3.5M, thats a huge decrease from his current 7M(with bonuses). Get your facts straight first.
