Journalist claims Milan will soon launch €14m offer for Argentina U20 star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are serious about signing Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central and they even have a bid ready, according to one journalist.

It was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio earlier today that the Milan management are examining the idea of signing a young striker and Veliz is a player that is very much on their list given his expressive exploits at such a young age.

Now, Argentine journalist Mati Mendia is reporting that Milan will send an offer for Veliz soon which will be worth €14m and will include a resale clause in favour of Rosaria Central.

The Rossoneri seem determined to win the race for the 19-year-old talent, who has 11 goals in 22 games this season and also scored three goals in four games for Argentina at the U20 World Cup last month.

He adds that several sources ensure that in the next few days the club will send an offer for the forward, who has an Italian passport which means he would not be a non-EU player. Rosario Central will not negotiate for less than €10m.

  1. I’m not sure this guy has an Italian passport. I think that was Lucas Beltran. I guess we need to decide which one to choose.

    1. Asi have said before this guy is a mixture of Abel Balbo and Batistuta, him with Colombo and Laztoc and Chaka we have an abundance of attacking players for the best 5-6 seasons

I really hope we get him, should move swiftly to avoid an auction

    2. we got 1 more slot for non EU, so his transfer is still possible. I prefer him over Beltran, he’s an actual striker.

    1. Bacca was fun, but that’s not the type of game Pioli wants to play unfortunately, although I do agree that I think it would fit better with our counter attack capabilities but instead Pioli wants a possession style attack where we can have a marksman up top that holds up play and brings the entire team up and can finish headers.
I would also prefer if Milan play Okafor CF or sign that Georgian ‘Mikatudze’ from Metz that Milan was linked with earlier, but then again im not a professional coach and Pioli is, so I guess ill trust him

    1. Alllll because he didn’t sign a player you personally wanted. And if Retegui is soooo amazing why was he signed by a relegation battler and not a better team?

Maybe it’s because he’s actually a mediocre player being overhyped.

      1. The directors of Italian teams are imbeciles. Retegui is already an international. He’s the perfect signing, he’s a good age with room for growth yet we’re linked to trash like Morata. You have clubs like Brighton in England finding bargains in South America and selling them for massive profits, while we sign junk like RLC and Pulisick and other Italian teams hoover up garbage from the rest of Europe. It’s a sad reflection on Serie A that the big clubs overlooked Retegui. They’d rather sign foreigners.

  2. Every transfer is a gamble. I would still bet on this one. He’s got the killer instinct in him. A raw gem that needs to be properly polished. Not to mention his current stature is quite terrifying for a 19 year old boy. He could be a monster. Get him, we need this type of player. Our only real ST is Oli. So I prefer him over Beltran.

PS : might also turned to be a Colombo.

      1. Agree, we got Okafor who’s equally mobile, taller and got nice shooting, albeit more injury prone. So we don’t need Balogun. We need a target man to replace Oli and Veliz has the quality and potential to be a top striker. He could still grow physically too.
