GdS: Milan make first bid to sign Spurs academy graduate – new attempt expected

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have made an enquiry about Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga as their search for a new centre-back continues, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the management are still searching for the right opportunity to add a centre-back to their ranks and they have got Tanganga on their list, a 22-year-old Tottenham academy graduate who is not finding much space in Antonio Conte’s team, having made just nine league appearances this season.

The first attempt involved some kind of a loan formula but the response from Spurs was negative, but it is possible that in the next few days the Rossoneri will make another bid and try to get a deal done.

Tanganga made his first team debut at the beginning of 2020 against Liverpool when José Mourinho was their head coach and he quickly proved that he can play either centre-back or right-back to a good level, having made 41 appearances for the north London club.

Given he is only 22 and Paolo Maldini has shown a willingness to bet on fringe players from the Premier League before (such as Fikayo Tomori), he seems a fitting profile.
