Milan target Zaniolo discusses ‘nice’ rumours and says he prefers 4-2-3-1 formation

By Isak Möller -

In the last few weeks, AC Milan have been linked with the services of Nicolo Zaniolo, which is not exactly surprising considering his versatility in attack. And the Roma man has now seemingly flirted with the Rossoneri.

Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemsekers failed to live up to expectations this past season and Milan are thus looking for a right-winger. The feeling is that they want a player that can play to the right but also as a No.10, such as Zaniolo.

Milan have a concrete interest in the player, as reported by La Stampa (via MilanNews) a few days ago, but the hefty price tag is an issue. Zaniolo will have a meeting with Roma soon and he could push for a move, which might help.

Speaking to this week’s edition of SportWeek (via MilanNews), the 22-year-old spoke about several things including his favourite formation. He went against Jose Mourinho and named the formation Stefani Pioli uses, while also congratulating Milan on the Scudetto.

On Ibrahimovic…

“They won 2-1, but I fulfilled a dream, playing with my idol. Not that I got to talk to him, but I studied him. I was too ashamed to get close, playing with him was nice.”

On the mercato…

“Market rumours? It’s nice, it means you’re worth something. I want to show that it’s right to be approached by these clubs.”

On the Scudetto…

“Was I expecting Milan to win? No, I thought Napoli and Juve had more chances. I’m happy that Ibra, my idol, won it, Milan deserved this Scudetto.”

On his favourite formation…

“The 3-5-2 doesn’t enhance my characteristics to the maximum, I prefer the 4-3-3 or the 4-2-3-1. However, if the coach decides this, I have to give 100% there. For the team and for the result,” he concluded.
