CorSera: Milan’s title hopes still alive thanks Tonali and second half rescue effort

By Oliver Fisher -

The Scudetto race between AC Milan and Inter remains open heading into the final few games of the season and it is thanks to the exploits of Sandro Tonali.

Il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how Tonali scored the winning goal yesterday in the 92nd minute of the match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico and gave his team three golden points that keep alive the hopes of winning the title.

Milan’s win sees them return to the top of the table and now they wait for the result of the game in hand for Inter, who play against Bologna on Wednesday, but yesterday was a truly incredible evening for the Rossoneri who started in the worse way when Ciro Immobile scored inside five minutes but battled back.

Stefano Pioli’s team reacted and once again created many opportunities, with the equaliser coming when Olivier Giroud turned in a Rafael Leao cross, and then at the end of the game Zlatan Ibrahimovic found Tonali for the winner.

Fate is no longer only in the hands of Milan as they must wait for a slip-up from Inter, but this certainly puts pressure on the Nerazzurri. The fans believe that the team can do something special: the beautiful choreography before the kick-off and then singing and encouraging the team throughout the game proves it.
