A lot of AC Milan’s January window will depend on the sales that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are able to conclude, and Pietro Pellegri could reportedly depart.
Calciomercato.com reports how Pellegri was plagued by injury problems in the first half of the season meaning he has failed to play consistently or even score a goal in the six appearances he has collected. The solution could be an early termination of his season-long loan in order to go elsewhere, with Torino and Genoa having been informed about his situation.
However, there is an obstacle: Pellegri is in fact at Milan on a paid loan with an option to buy. The loan fee is €1m and the option to buy is €6m, and the only way that the Rossoneri can therefore move him on in January is to pay the option and permanently sign him before loaning him back out.
It seems a complicated solution at the moment, but the management are working at Casa Milan to try and find the right solutions.

I would keep him. Why sell him if he can be a backup striker in case Giroud and Ibra get injured again. We know Pioli wont play Maldini so Id keep him just in case. Maybe he’ll make a big comeback.
Have seen some news in this site that dont make sense this is another one that does not make how one paid loan with option to buy is an obstacle to terminating the loan if Milan wants to end the loan the can if it was one paid loan with obligation to buy then Milan would have to paid the 6 million euros and then sell to Torino or Genoa!
Firstly, this is not our report, it is a relaying of a Calciomercato.com article as it states. That article claims that essentially there is no clause in the loan deal that means it can be terminated early. Therefore in order to offload Pellegri in January the only thing Milan can currently do – within the remits of the current agreement – is to buy him outright and then they are free to loan him out. Otherwise, Monaco are not forced to do anything.
They will paying 1 mil regardless pellegri played for 6 months or 1 year. So if milan terminated early, they will record loss, something that milan badly avoid now
