AC Milan have finally kept their first clean sheet under Sergio Conceicao, and things can potentially look up now for the rest of the season.
The old cliche goes that goals win games, but defence wins titles, and having Mike Maignan between the sticks is certainly a huge factor when it comes to potentially achieving the latter.
Obviously, Maignan’s quality has been known for several years now, but with Milan’s defensive line changing regularly his numbers have suffered, but now, the Frenchman, the defence and Conceicao can look forward with positivity.
As Milan News writes, for the first time since December 20 (the 1-0 win against Hellas Verona), the Rossoneri kept a clean sheet, making them ‘unbreakable’ for the first time since the Portuguese’s arrival, which can only be a positive thing.
However, it must become a regularity, rather than an occasional thing, which the head coach is aware of.
Conceicao has already spoken about tackling consistency moving forward, and this goes for things at both ends of the pitch – more regular Rossoneri goals whilst keeping more clean sheets, or at least striving to do that.
With teams around Milan dropping points this weekend, there could be some golden opportunities approaching to gain on the European places. Opportunities that the Diavolo must take.

Clean sheet = can’t lose. So if you’re scoring and keep clean sheets you’re well on your way to titles.
