Milan’s record with vs. without Ibrahimovic in 2021 is a cause for concern – the numbers

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have suffered without Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2021 and they will be forced to suffer once again, starting tonight against Torino.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported earlier today how many feared the worst as Ibrahimovic went off with an injured knee against Juve, but he has only suffered a knee sprain and his ligaments are therefore safe. However, his season is unfortunately already over as he will be sidelined for at least three weeks.

As MilanNews writes, the numbers without Ibra in the current calendar year appear to be a cause for concern. In 2021 Milan have won 69% of Serie A matches with the 39-year-old Swede on the pitch, at an average of 2.2 points per game. Without the veteran striker on the pitch however, the Rossoneri found victory only in 38% of games, with an average of 1.3 points per game.

Tonight will be the 17th game out of 36 games in which Ibrahimovic will not take part.

  1. He’s a great player, an inspiration and a totem, la-de-da, etc etc etc – but seriously, he gets injured in EVERY SINGLE GAME he plays! Really not sure about depending on him for another year…
