The big talking point of the season so far has been Rafael Leao’s reported problems with the AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca, but it is not the coach’s first rodeo.
When Fonseca arrived in the summer, his first priority was to assure Leao of his centrality to his plans. Since then, his centrality has all but gone. Leao started this weekend’s fixture on the bench once again, and whilst there are plans to bring him back against Real Madrid, fears are growing.
For Leao, he has been on the bench before, and there will be times when he is again. However, the consistency of the decisions partnered with reports of a broken relationship suggests a deeper problem. A problem which has already played out.
As Milan News write, the Portuguese coach has ‘turned against’ the star, with the pair not on the same wavelength. This is a situation that Fonseca experienced with Edin Dzeko – who had public disagreements with the coach – and ended with the Bosnian heading to Inter.
In both case studies, the story is the same. The ‘champion vs. the coach’. At Roma, Fonseca experienced similar support to that which is being given by Milan’s management, and Dzeko departed unhappy at his situation.
As we know, Leao is heading in a similar path, with the report suggesting that the ‘mistake is always there’ with Fonseca’s man management of the stars.
Fonseca isn’t Sacchi, losing Leao for peanuts will bite us back… Idk what is happening, if media is being annoying or if Leao is unhappy but Ibra has to step up… why is he even here if he can’t even manage that?!
I like this 2 be honest. It uncovers the incompetence of our management for hiring this dude and uncovers the frail ego of our “star” player.
Fùck them all to Saudi and let’s bring proper people in
Agree. The end scenario will be this: Leao leaves, the backup is not good enough, the results do not come, Fonseca leaves next summer, and we are back to square one.
You think Leao will go easily? Other clubs need heft fund, like 70-80 mil to buy him. We need that sum to make record transfer
Both should go in my opinion and the management should leave with them. That includes Moncada, Furlani and Ibra.
Evidence indicates that Leao has been underperforming and showing signs of insubordination, with motives that appear questionable and potentially aimed at undermining the team. In contrast, Fonseca, despite some expected growing pains as a new coach, has shown good intentions and remains committed to the team’s success.
if this thing fonseca is trying to do would work which is benching leao i would be more ok with it but this isnt working so thats why fonseca should go
