MN: 14 days until preseason begins with Milan still seven or eight signings short – the strategy

There are two weeks until AC Milan’s preseason campaign officially gets underway and there are still a lot of question marks about the squad.

MilanNews writes how as things stand Stefano Pioli will have to work with a limited squad when the players reconvene at Milanello, with around seven or eight reinforcements missing Brahim Diaz and Sandro Tonali could join up too, but Maldini and Massara will have to speed up the times to assists Pioli’s preparations.

Two full-backs are needed, namely deputies to Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez. Junior Firpo is the number one target for the latter, while the hope is that Diogo Dalot could return from Manchester United. The Rossoneri will have to prevent being short on midfielders when Kessie and Bennacer go to the AFCON in January, with Tiemoue Bakayoko and Sandro Tonali the reinforcements eyed.

With the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu, Milan will need a new playmaker to compliment Brahim Diaz. A new right winger to partner Alexis Saelemaekers will also be needed, while in the centre-forward department Ilivier Giroud is the first name on the list, with other last-minute opportunities eyed (which applies to all roles).
