MN: Atalanta continue to push hard for AC Milan full-back

By Oliver Fisher -

Atalanta are interested in a move for AC Milan defender Diego Laxalt this summer, according to a report.

The signing of another left-back in Theo Hernandez – who arrived in a €20m deal from Real Madrid earlier in the summer – has put Laxalt’s position under threat.

There are currently four players on the books in his position, the others being Hernandez, Ricardo Rodriguez and Ivan Strinic.

The Uruguay international has subsequently been strongly linked with an exit in the current window. Links with Parma have generated the most speculation to this point.

An update from MilanNews.it however claims that it is Milan’s Lombardia neighbours Atalanta who are still interested in a move.

Gian Piero Gasperini is keen on a reunion with Laxalt, having managed the 26-year-old during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons at Genoa.

The fact that Laxalt cannot be guaranteed game time at this point could help Atalanta in their pursuit, plus the chance to potentially play in the Champions League.

Milan have seemingly made it clear though that they are not interested in a loan deal: they want cash.
