MN: Atalanta much-changed from last meeting with Milan – their summer business

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan faced Atalanta in the penultimate game of last season but they have undergone quite a few changes since that meeting.

Atalanta will be Milan’s next league opponent as the Rossoneri will face them at the Gewiss Stadium in the second round of the 2022-23 season having played them in the second-last round of the 2021-22 Scudetto-winning campaign. Milan won 2-0 in that game thanks to goals from Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez.

MilanNews notes how several players left La Dea since them. First of all was Remo Freuler, who moved to Nottingham Forest, while Matteo Pessina is now at Monza. Aleksei Miranchuk will also be missing as he moved to Torino, and Matteo Lovato now plays for Salernitana.

There is a strange situation regarding signings though as Brandon Soppy will face Milan for the second straight game having just arrived in Bergamo from Udinese.

A first appearance against the Diavolo should come for Ademola Lookman, who scored in the first match played at Sampdoria, while Ederson is a newcomer who is not expected to feature.

In terms of the players that have remained and are likely to start, Gasperini has Musso, Djimsiti, De Roon, Koopmeiners, Hateboer, Pasalic and Muriel.
