Paulo Fonseca has once again had to draw from the Milan Futuro squad due to an injury problem sustained on the eve of the game against Venezia, a report claims.
As MilanNews reports, Fonseca was dealt two further selection blows in view of tonight’s game, starting with the news that Malick Thiaw has not yet recovered from a sprained ankle and will have to sit out again.
Then, it emerged that Davide Calabria will also be forced to skip the game at San Siro. The captain sustained a knock to his leg during training and it will result in him missing the match, leaving the defence short on numbers.
Fonseca has decided to call up Davide Bartesaghi who has been a fixed point of Milan Futuro in their debut season. Alex Jimenez meanwhile will remain with Daniele Bonera’s team, who will be playing today at 18:30 against Ascoli.
The reason is presumably because Bartesaghi can play as a full-back but also as a centre-back if needed, meaning that he can provide emergency cover in two positions if there are further issues today.
As a reminder in case you missed it last night, the decision has also been made to call up the Futuro captain Kevin Zeroli to help cover Ismael Bennacer’s absence, while Silvano Vos will stay with Bonera.
