MN: Confirmations arrive on Aston Villa’s interest in €35m Milan forward – the latest

Confirmations have arrived regarding the news that AC Milan have received an expression of interest in Charles De Ketelaere from the Premier League.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Aston Villa are indeed pressing to sign De Ketelaere and there are ongoing discussions regarding the sale of the Belgian.

Milan are willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old, but are aiming to get the most money they can back after they paid out €35m to sign him from Club Brugge last summer.

There are also enquiries from other clubs, so there could be the situation where the management can hold an auction of sorts and maximise the return on De Ketelaere.

To avoid a loss on the balance sheet an offer of €28m is needed and it was reported this morning by the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport that Aston Villa are expected to put in a bid of €25m, with Milan asking for €30m.

  1. I wish Milan can Georges Mikautadze, Okafor and Chukwueze. With them we shall have the best attack in Serie A and we shall also compete in Europe. Sell cdk, use the money to buy Chukwueze. Okafor and Georges Mikautadze can play almost all roles upfront.

  2. Well if this rumour true just negotiate with aston villa 25m euro + 10% resale value. Use that money to buying RW or striker

  3. Take the 25m, maybe try to throw a bonus in, and run fast. A small loss is ok under these circumstances and can be easily offset in something like the Messias-Singo deal for the books.

  4. If CDK is sold for break even at 28m, plus what we have left from Tonali, plus sales of Salad, Rebic, and Origi, I think we’ll have enough to secure a RW (Chukwueze), a striker (any one of the ones we’ve been linked with for ~35m and with an EU passport), and a defensive midfielder to plug that hole. Come on Villians!

    1. The problem isn’t that we can’t afford Chuk. The problem is that 35mil for a player on an expiring contract is TERRIBLE BUSINESS!

If CDK goes, that money better go to a stellar CF.

      1. I don’t disagree, but we also simply NEED a good RW. Similarly productive wingers with additional time left on their contracts will cost even more. See some of the news this morning about players like Cherki and Barcola, who are being quoted at 50m. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet.

  5. Shame Milan are not thinking of given him and Adli another chance. We should think about how we almost sold Leao…now he is in the top 5 best forwards in the world…if not top 3.

  6. Well it’s very simple. If the current management believes in the scouting work done by Moncada then they’ll keep him at least for another year. Otherwise it’s best for them to cut their losses but also raises questions about following through on Moncada’s recommendations.
Tbh, last year I defended CDK until I couldn’t. I’d take the money and run lol. 25m is almost break even. Unlike Adli he actually given chances. The risk is him playing another year and flopping thereby reducing his value much further than it is right now. At least now he can still somewhat have an excuse with acclimatization and some.of his Brugge performances. Next year won’t be the same..

    1. Seeing how they signed Pulisic like a Priority Mail and heavily seeking for a RW and CF, that’s basically left him no place in the first team), the current management’s intention is clear IMO. Although it’s not entirely Maldini’s fault (as discussed here over and over), but looks like the management would like to get rid of ‘his failure’ and make a kind of statement by doing so.

      1. Yea I agree..seems they’re doing a significant overhaul. And I’m not opposed to it either as the targets seems to be decent enough. I just hope they click on the field because changing too much can be an issue
At 25m for him at this point, yea I’d take it. It’s so weird though that he is still disproportionately liked to Maldini. M&M was a huge shield for Moncada to work without pressure and to some degree Pioli. They faced the criticisms for other people. It’s why I think this year is going to be really interesting in many ways. I think this year, Moncada and Pioli have so much added pressure in them.

        1. “I just hope they click on the field because changing too much can be an issue.”

Underrated issue. Which leads us to…

“I think this year, Moncada and Pioli have so much added pressure in them.”

Not so much on Moncada, who is simply a scout, and obviously a good one, but more so on Pioli. If we’re outside of, or barely in (ex. 4th but 1 point ahead of 5th), the top four in December, I think Pioli is gone.

  7. I will both miss him and not. I miss the promise of what could have bern. But I won’t miss what we got because he has been a disaster.

I hope we keep Adli at least. I think he can bring something if given the chance.

  8. 28mil and you are dry out of the water. I’m conflicted though – you can tell the kid has it in him, just needs to unlock himself mentally… I’d love for him to stay another year.

  9. Can’t get rid of this mistake fast enough. Milan should do this deal yesterday. He has been given enough chances. Maybe he’ll be a good player someday but it won’t be here.
The people trying to liken this situation to Leao are way off the mark. He doesn’t have anywhere near the athletic ability that make Leao great. You could always see what Leao was capable of, he just had to be more consistent with his effort. This kid has not shown anything, not even brief flashes of brilliance. And whats worse is that he doesn’t even believe in himself. Zero confidence and hanging his head and sulking every time he makes a mistake. Time to move on.

  10. His best position are false nine & SS ,keeping him one more season will downgrade his value . If ACM switch to 433 , he dont have place in AMF anymore , in RW also so many competition there like pulisic, romero and new guy that management for RW , moving to CF are bad idea because he is not strong in aerial duel ,bad body balance. Overall he is not suit for pioli tactic . Selling him are the best way as long as ACM not getting loss
