MN: Donnarumma crowns first game as captain with penalty save – renewal is a must

By Isak Möller -

Donnarumma is a guarantee for Milan. And the joy was double last night as Gigio saved Malinovskyi’s penalty whilst wearing the captain’s armband. A symbol, or rather a confirmation: he is already a leader.

His 201st appearance in the red and black shirt, therefore, coincided with the first game as captain recognized by the group. Donnarumma earned himself the satisfaction of saving his fourth penalty of the season, the tenth in his career.

As highlighted by MilanNews.it, these are respectable numbers for a champion who hasn’t been just a talent for a while now. Today Gigio is a solid reality, or rather, one of the strongest goalkeepers on the world of football.

That’s why Milan wants to keep him. Donnarumma, who will wear the captain’s armband in the next two games against Sampdoria and Cagliari, is an important player that the Rossoneri need to keep beyond the current 2021 contract.
