MN: Encouraging start to 2023 for De Ketelaere as first Milan goal edges closer

By Isak Möller -

Charles De Ketelaere was one of the many positive performers in AC Milan’s 2-1 win against Salernitana earlier in the week. After a difficult start to his tenure at the club, the feeling is that this might be a turning point.

As highlighted by MilanNews, De Ketelaere came close to scoring on especially two occasions, both of which ended with Guillermo Ochoa making a great save. The Belgian was truly unlucky not to break the drought with either of those shots.

There was also a moment in which he showed a bit of uncertainty. In the 72nd minute, he was launched by Olivier Giroud and had loads of space to run into. Instead of finishing with his right foot, though, he wanted to cut back onto his left which proved too difficult.

In any case, the performance was indeed an encouraging one and not like what we have seen in the past from him. His ability to play up front will also come in handy for Stefano Pioli given the injuries up front, and the need for Giroud to recover properly in between games.
