MN: Exam awaits for Leao and Rebic – against Udinese the attack will be on their shoulders

By Oliver Fisher -

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hakan Calhanoglu both out against Udinese tomorrow night, the attacking responsibility will fall on the shoulders of two other forwards.

As MilanNews writes, one of the strengths of this current team is that in moments of emergency you can see the true togetherness of the team and a group. The Rossoneri will battle another game with multiple selection problems when they welcome Udinese to San Siro as Ibra, Calhanoglu, Mario Mandzukic and Ismael Bennacer are all injured.

That means that Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic will have to take the weight of the attack and try to drag the team to victory. Leao’s growth this season is among the most important as he has been deployed as a winger, attacking midfielder and a striker.

He hasn’t scored since January 9 against Torino, but the Portuguese starlet now has to find the net and the match against Udinese, and the words of Pioli confirm this: “Let’s not forget that until a few weeks ago there was talk of a more determined Leao. Tomorrow he can start from the beginning. He should not be pampered too much because it is fine. He has to help the team with his qualities.”

The first weeks of 2021 have showed the importance of Rebic for Milan as the Croatian forward – despite his wasteful nature against Red Star – has proved to be a decisive player for the Rossoneri. The news of his recovery for the game vs. Udinese is positive, and he will hope to net another winner like against Roma.
