MN: Giroud the leader of Milan’s attack – his penalty record is almost perfect

Olivier Giroud continues to prove himself to be evergreen as he shows up with key goals for AC Milan time and time again, with last night’s win over Dinamo Zagreb a prime example.

MilanNews writes how Giroud has become the attacking leader of the Rossoneri despite having only arrived a year ago. The physical problems of the various Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ante Rebic and Divock Origi mean the Frenchman is now an unmovable point of reference for the entire forward department.

The way that Giroud and Rafael Leao have struck up a chemistry is clear for all to see, and the veteran striker has been able to take advantage of his importance by scoring from a penalty against Sampdoria and then doing the same versus Dinamo Zagreb last night after Leao had won the penalty.

Giroud’s penalty record is as follows: 24 goals scored out of 25 attempts in his career, which is practically perfect. He has not failed a penalty since 26 September 2012 when he played for Arsenal against Coventry in the cup, which the Gunners won 6-1 anyway.

The goal scored yesterday by Giroud represents the first he has netted in 7 appearances for Milan in the Champions League, and it is the perfect way to lead into the huge game against Napoli on Sunday.

  1. The man Olivier Giroud what can I say .He is class and when he steps onto the pitch he always believes he will win . Just to add I am extremely happy for Olivier to be recalled to the France squad ,don’t bet against him ending up being Frances record goal scorer .I certainly won’t ..He is a winner .
