MN: Ibrahimovic will be central to Milan’s decision on Pioli’s future

By Euan Burns -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is going to be a major part of the decision-making process at AC Milan when it comes to the future of head coach Stefano Pioli, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, the new special advisor at Milan is going to have his thoughts listened to as the club tries to decide whether they should part ways with the coach or not.

There have been rumblings about Pioli’s job security over the last few weeks and the draw against Salernitana on Friday seems to have really intensified the situation.

Salernitana have been bottom of Serie A for most of the season and Milan needed a late equaliser from Luka Jovic in order to avoid a defeat. The results and the repeated injuries mean that Milan are considering Pioli’s position more than ever before.

Given Ibrahimovic used to be a player under Pioli at Milan and the pair have a close working relationship, but it is now his job to advise on the runnings of the team and he is best placed to offer insight that the likes of Giorgio Furlani and Gerry Cardinale cannot offer.

Given the games are coming thick and fast, Pioli is likely to be in position for the next match against Sassuolo on December 30.

  1. Has Ibra made any comments after the draw? What has he observed? How does he find the players, the locker room? Does he hold the players accountable after that performance?

    What is his counsel?
