MN: Kjaer edging closer to Milan comeback after eight months – Pioli’s plan

By Isak Möller -

Simon Kjaer has recovered from the serious knee injury he sustained back in December of 2021 and Stefano Pioli is almost ready to welcome him back on the pitch. In fact, the manager has a clear plan.

The Dane is an important player for Milan not just because of his quality, but also his experience and willingness to guide the youngsters. His return, therefore, is a boost heading into what should be an exciting season.

As said, he has recovered from his knee injury and has been training with the team since the pre-season preparations began. According to MilanNews, Pioli is expected to give him a few minutes on the pitch against Wolfsberger, scheduled for July 27th.

Just under eight months after he got injured in the game against Genoa, in other words, and it will be very interesting to see him back on the pitch. Of course, he will need a few games to regain match fitness after such a long and serious stop.

  1. Make my words he’s going to reaggravate his injury or get a totally different one. An ageing defender with a serious injury? What could go wrong from a management standpoint.

That being said, I really wish him well, hope he recovers and stay that way.

    1. He’s a professional. He has rehabilitated his knee well and will be able to continue playing with it just as before the injury. Surely he still needs a handful of matches to get back to his level but for a CB it won’t be a problem.
