Youssouf Fofana and Fikayo Tomori trained individually at Milanello earlier today, according to a report, and AC Milan are optimistic about recovering them both for the Coppa Italia final.
Fofana received a knock to his foot in the game against Genoa and thus missed out last night. Tomori, meanwhile, was subbed off after just 14 minutes after receiving a knock to his head. Naturally, there was some concern among the Milan fans at that moment.
According to MilanNews, both of them trained individually at Milanello earlier today. There is optimism regarding Fofana, seeing as he will have four more days to recover, while there are no problems for Tomori. He’s no longer bothered by the headache and dizziness.
Matteo Gabbia stated after the game that his defensive colleague ‘will be there’ against Bologna next week, so it seems it was never anything serious for the Englishman. Good news for Milan indeed, especially since Strahinja Pavlovic didn’t exactly impress last night.
Kyle Walker came off the bench and did well to the right of the three-man backline, so perhaps Sergio Conceicao could consider moving Tomori to the left instead. On the other hand, Pavlovic brings some qualities in the build-up that the others cannot necessarily emulate.
Fofana should play to win the midfield against Bologna. His defensive abilities, compliment to Reijnders. In fact, RLC compliments them too with his size and aerial ability, but unfortunately the formation doesn’t accomodate this. Three at the back is the best option at the moment and the solidity of the backline should come first. I prefer Walker-Gabbia-Tomori/Thiaw
For midfielders and attackers, ideally we use 433. RLC-Fofana-Reijnders anda Pulisic-Gimenez-Leao. But it leaves problem with CB’s and left back because non of our CB’s and left back have the necessary ability to fill those positions. Theo is weak in defensive ability. Gabbia is weak in balance. Thiaw is weak in technique. Tomori is weak in decision. Pavlovic is weak in positioning and marking.
Why not
Fikayo Matteo Malick
Kyle Yousouff Tijjani Theo
Orsolini will always turn Strahinja inside out and outpace him too, will always take him to his right.
Alex allows his anger take hold of him and he can forget himself overlapping.
Kyle and Fikayo will lock that right side then Alex and Samuel can come in with RLC too.
Thiaw should NOT feature as a starter in a final match at the level he is at. Theo should be played more conservatively so as to help Pavlovic in double teaming Orsolini.
