MN: The latest on the injured Milan players – from Loftus-Cheek to Okafor

By Isak Möller -

A total of seven AC Milan players are currently on the sidelines and that is far from ideal for head coach Stefano Pioli. Ahead of the important clash against Napoli on Sunday, a report has taken stock of the injury situation.

The Rossoneri were without some key players in last night’s 3-0 defeat against PSG, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and had few options on the bench as well. For the game against Napoli, therefore, Pioli is hoping for an improvement on that front.

According to MilanNews, Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic could both recover in time for the game after struggling with muscle fatigue. As for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, he still recovering from his muscle inflammation and will be assessed day-to-day. He could make the game, but it depends.

Samuel Chukwueze and Marco Sportiello are dealing with injuries to the left hamstring and left calf respectively. It will take some time for them to return to training and thus there are no real updates on them today.

Finally, Fikayo Tomori left the game against PSG with some pain (replaced by Simon Kjaer) but it was only due to a knock. He’s considered fit, in other words. Ismael Bennacer and Mattia Caldara are also on the injury list, but their respective recovery will take much longer.

    1. They became injury prone when they came to Milan except RLC.
Why is no one asking the medical pr fitness team what is going on?
      This didn’t start this season.
Every player I Milan team is now injury prone from the defenders to the midfielders to the attackers.

  1. Poor fitness across seria a has been going on for far to long.

Hard to believe our once great football club led the way in regards to fitness amongst other things.

As a milan fan I find it hard to believe just how far we have fallen and seeing these names on the injury list and the current starting eleven sadly proves for the remainder of this decade we’re only going to drop further behind.

    1. Not too hard to believe when we bought a bunch of injury prone players like RLC, Chuk and Okafor (and Puli). We really shouldn’t be surprised they got injured.

      1. I just say though that Sportiello is the big surprise. Never injured before until he got to AC Milan. So not only do we buy injury prone players, but also our metjods are not conducive to injury prone players much less healthy ones

      2. Exactly!

Now the media is totally silent about these “wonderful purchasings” made by ex-financier Furlani with the bless from Redbird’s Cardinale and support from Moncada.

      3. Man Okafor isn’t injury neither is Chukwueze you can say RLC and Pulisic.

Ask ur medical and fitness team questions because it has been happening, every player that comes to Milan ends up becoming injury prone.
Maignan was never an injury prone at Lille, Tomori became injury prone at Milan, Theo Hernandez, Davide Calabria, Bennacer was never injury prone at Empoli same as Krunic, Messias fitness issues got worse at Milan, saelemaekers became injury prone at Milan, Rebic got worse, Florenzi got worse.

How long will it take before the rest start falling like flies and you will say MILAN BOUGHT INJURY PRONE PLAYERS?

        1. It’s both correct that our medical team including physios are doing a terrible job with injuries to our players AND that we ourselves bought injury prone players. It’s not like one can’t happen without the other.

“Man Okafor isn’t injury neither is Chukwueze you can say RLC and Pulisic.”

Ok let’s see…since you really want to do this (tired of telling you guys my posts always have data to back it up lol)… according to transfermarkt Okafor had many injuries…
          18/19: out 29 days, adductor
19/20: out 52 days over 4 occasions, hamstring
20/21: out 83 days over 4 occasions, fever, Corona, muscle, muscle fiber
21/22: out 57 days, over 4 occasions, mostly hamstring
22/3: out 107 days, over 3 occasions, mostly metatarsal

Tell me how Okafor is not injury prone?

          Chukwueze:
          18/19: out 367 days, one occasion, I’ll
          19/20: out 31 days, groin
          20/21: out 161 days, hamstring
21/22: out 377 days, muscle injury

Though for Chuk I think they have some off stats, it still remains, at least for 19/20 and 20/21 significant injuries.

So you can’t say these guys dont have suspect injury histories buddy..and again I agree on our medical staff part doesn’t help. Look at what happened to Sportiello. Never injured until he came here

  2. Injuries are a part of football. With league, Champions league, and international matches, within a short time, it’s hard for any player not to be injured. Many clubs – Man. City, Man. Utd, Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc, are facing the same issue. Nothing peculiar to Milan. We only hope for speedy recovery.
