Rafael Leao will be called upon to make a leap forward in the 2021-22 season after another inconsistent campaign, a report has written.
MilanNews notes how Leao ‘travels on the fleeting border of sufficiency and insufficiency’ which is something that ‘creates regrets and discontent’ – particularly among the fans who are aware of his quality and potential but know he can do better.
Many supporters and the media too have been excited by the Portuguese’s plays but just as many times they were impatient at the umpteenth error of distraction or inability to influence the game. As said, it is widely recognised that the player has the means to do very well because of his physique, pace and dribbling ability – plus vision too on occasion – and this suggests how with experience he can become even stronger.
His defects at the moment seem to be a lack of composure in front of goal and also question marks over his mentality. The first can be solved with a lot of physical and technical training, the second instead requires a difficult effort of humility and determination.
The leap in quality required of Leao for Milan’s next season, therefore, is not only technical but also mental. A big year is needed, otherwise the angry voices will grow.
