Rafael Leao took another step forward in his recovery today and the chances of him playing a part in the game against Atalanta are growing, a report claims.
A few days ago Leao underwent a new MRI scan which revealed that the muscle injury that has kept him out in recent weeks has healed. MilanNews reports that the Portuguese winger did the first part of today’s session with the rest of the squad, then the second part individually.
Tomorrow Leao will try to carry out the entire session with the rest of his team-mates and subsequently Stefano Pioli will decide whether or not to call him up for Saturday’s away match against Bergamo.
The feeling at the moment is that Leao will travel with the team and will be named on the bench but the idea of him starting is unlikely given the period of absence and the desire not to overwork him.
As for Simon Kjaer, the Danish defender continued his individual work at Milanello today too, meaning he is unlikely to play any part.
I’d say use him only if we are trailing in the 70th and over minute, otherwise rest him for Newcastle. We need the 3 points in UCL to either qualify for Europa or if PSG were to lose to continue our UCL dream!
