MN: Leao’s numbers show just how decisive he has become for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s defensive resilience is certainly helping them in the decisive part of the season, but the attack continues to be led by Rafael Leao.

MilanNews writes how the Portuguese is an absolute protagonist of Stefano Pioli’s team this season having become an immovable starter despite the fact he was rotated with Ante Rebic last season, and now he is reaching peaks in performance that he could not find before.

The report adds how Milan have played 47 official matches the season, and of these 47 Leao has played 41. His numbers are excellent: 14 goals and 9 assists overall in all competitions, spread over 20 games. This means that in practically half of the games he plays, he was decisive.

However, there is still some room for improvement given that he has not yet scored a brace this season. Since joining the Rossoneri, the Portuguese winger has scored only one brace and that came on 4 October 2020 in the 3-0 home win against Spezia.

Now all thoughts are on the game at the Mapei Stadium against Sassuolo, in which a draw is needed to win the Scudetto. Leao scored on that ground after just 7 seconds last season and now he must once again give everything to reach the final prize.

  1. He can be one of the best in the world in his position, if not the best. This season was an improvement, I hope he signs a new contract and reaches the level he should.
