Paolo Maldini has already made the decision to leave AC Milan at the end of the season having had a meeting with CEO Ivan Gazidis.
That is according to MilanNews, who report that the decision will not be publicly announced until the end of the season as Maldini wants to enjoy his last few weeks with the Rossoneri before saying goodbye.
It is a decision he has already communicated to some friends and family, despite the offer from Gazidis to remain with another role.
In a match that took place before the game against Lazio, the former club captain was presented with the offer of a particular role, not just as a simple ambassador but an institutional figure with the possibility of contributing to the new project.
Maldini will say no, because he wants to make decisions on the market, to be operational in the choice of players, a job he will no longer have with the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.
His ideas do not match those of Gazidis, especially on players over 30. Maldini and the rest of the management have different visions of how to run the club, so after two years the paths will separate again.
