MN: Milan ‘confident’ of securing renewal for star duo despite rumours Juventus are circling

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management are ‘confident’ about being able to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu to new deals, it is claimed.

Both Donnarumma and Calhanoglu have become a huge part of the current Milan side, but the duo both have contracts expiring in June 2021 meaning their renewals have become a pressing issue, with varying levels of optimism filtering from the media.

For example, Sky Italia (via MilanNews) reported on Wednesday that Calhanoglu has certain career objectives like playing in the Champions League as a protagonist, and there are teams interested in signing him as a free agent like Juventus and Atletico Madrid given that his renewal will not be easy.

A meeting took place at San Siro on Thursday in which CEO Ivan Gazidis plus directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara answered questions on different topics, and MilanNews report that the club ‘are confident that they will secure new deals for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu’.

No other information is given, but it is of course reassuring to hear given how important both players have become.
