MN: Milan confident regarding renewal of two stars as two targets are picked out for January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are confident of securing the renewals of two of their key men and have picked out two targets for the defence, a report claims.

According to the latest from MilanNews, signings are expected during the January market but first Milan must resolve the Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu situations, as both are on deals which expire next June.

At the moment a renewal for Donnarumma is less complicated than the extension of the Turkey international, but there is optimism and confidence filtering from the management regarding both situations.

Milan are evaluating a series of players to strengthen the defence meanwhile, with Schalke’s Ozan Kabak still very much a target. Back in the summer the Bundesliga side wanted €25-30m for Calhanoglu’s compatriot, but now they need to sell due to economic problems. Therefore, the right conditions are being created for a new attempt in January, and Milan would like to try close a deal at €15m.

Meanwhile, Matteo Lovato is also a target and the Hellas Verona defender is represented by agent Giuseppe Riso, who has excellent relations with Paolo Maldini and the Rossoneri. Lovato would be enthusiastic about the move to Milan and he would be in line with Elliott’s philosophy.

Contacts with Hellas are progressing, and as Maldini admitted before the match against Verona, and the management are continuing to monitor his development.
