MN: Milan considering sacking Giampaolo after Fiorentina loss

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are considering sacking head coach Marco Giampaolo despite the words of director Paolo Maldini, MilanNews have confirmed.

The Rossoneri’s crisis deepened on Sunday night as Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina won 3-1 at San Siro to condemn Milan to a fourth defeat in six games to begin the season.

It marks only the second time in the club’s history that they have lost four games before the seventh round, and the pressure is building on Giampaolo.

TMW linked Andriy Shevchenko with the job after the game, while Vito Angele confirmed to us that Giampaolo’s position is under threat, with three possible temporary solutions being considered.

However, on Sunday night Maldini confirmed his full trust in the head coach and insisted that patience is needed from supporters.

Now, MilanNews.it‘s Anto Vitiello has claimed that despite Maldini’s words, Giampaolo’s position is far from certain.

The former Sampdoria boss risks being sacked, the report states and in these hours the club are ‘evaluating the most suitable profiles to hire in a very difficult moment’.

The choice ‘cannot be made in a few hours because it must be well considered’, while budgetary restrictions mean it is not just a case of going for the best available.
