The media attention at the moment is very much focused on Gianluigi Donnarumma, but Milan must deal with another expiring contract in Hakan Calhanoglu.
As MilanNews writes, there has been a long stalemate after several meetings between his agent and the Milan management. Milan are continuing to offer €4m net per season plus bonuses and are convinced that it is the most appropriate offer for the player.
Calhanoglu initially asked for €6m but then dropped to €5m, so the economic difference seems to be narrowing but behind there are a couple of clubs that are trying to snatch him. The issue has not been resolved and we will wait for the end of the season for a final decision.
Milan have made economic and technical considerations, especially given that Calhanoglu has rarely played games as a true leader in 2021 so far and in the whole season he scored only three goals, with many physical problems (including Covid) that held him back. The offer of €4m plus bonuses put on the table by the club seems more than fair, in their eyes.
