The AC Milan management are in regular talks with Stefano Pioli’s agent over the extension of his contract, according to a report.
Pioli has been given a lot of credit for the work he has done in transforming Milan’s fortunes and rightly so, given the team were mid-table when he took over before leading them on a charge to finish in the European spots in 2019-20 thanks to an excellent post-lockdown run, and then last season resulted in a second-placed finish and a return to the Champions League.
MilanNews writes how Pioli’s contract is actually set to expire at the end of the current season but dialogue has already started to extend the relationship with Milan. His agents have daily talks with the management and the idea is to continue together.
There is great esteem between the parties, and it is added that Milan have an option that can be exercised during the season to extend the deadline until 2023, and a pay rise is also being worked on.
