MN: Milan’s four primary attacking targets with depth upfront a must

By Euan Burns -

There are four strikers that AC Milan are looking very seriously at as they seek to ensure there are more goals in the team and there is less reliance on Olivier Giroud, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, the Rossoneri are focused on Lois Openda, Romelu Lukaku, Gianluca Scamacca and Alvaro Morata at this stage.

The fact that four names are in contention shows that no arrival is imminent in this area of the pitch, especially given the failed pursuit of Marcus Thuram.

Alvaro Morata: Morata is a favoured target in terms of his technical profile, and a renewal at Atletico Madrid could open up a loan deal with an obligation to buy. His €9 million salary is a problem, though.

Gianluca Scamacca: The Italian would be a great option but Milan favour a loan, whilst West Ham United are only entertaining an outright sale at this stage.

Lois Openda: The Belgian is arguably the best target given his age and profile, but €45-50m is needed. If Milan are serious about him, all they have to do is meet Lens’s valuation and the deal will be done.

Romelu Lukaku: There seems to be very little belief that a deal between Chelsea and Milan can be struck for Lukaku, but he is nonetheless an available striker in the market and were Milan to make a big sale other than Tonali, the door could open.

  1. Back in for Arnautovic in the end then.

Of those, Scamacca is the only one that feels like a realistic option, but West Ham don’t really need the money as much as some other clubs will do, especially as they’re about to get some crazy money for selling Rice, so they can wait it out.

I hope we can work out something for Scamacca, would like to see him get a chance and West Ham is a striker’s graveyard so I won’t judge him entirely on last year.

  2. Why are we only hearing about these four players?
Apart from Openda ( who has potential )and maybe Scamacca(questionable Milan level) the players mentioned are not exciting us. What about Beto ,Santiago Gimenez or Wahi for potential or for 50m Jonathan David would be the best! A proven marksmen who is still young maybe even a trade with De ketelaere + cash?
Lukaku is Inter and should stay with them and Morata has mileage even though he would be a good back up.

  3. If this is the pick it has to be Openda. Lukaku is an interista, no. Morata, no. Scammacca, hahahaha.

I would rather get Balogun. I thought Moncada is a scouting wizard and he will discover some super talents for us, not really going that way. Morata, Scammacca and Lukaku targets 😀

  4. For a straight up cover for giroud with the same posture and playstyle, why not go for en nesyri of Sevilla, still 26, tall, strong, good header.

  5. West Ham want rid of Scamacca and we huge Origi who motes wants…it’s a deal waiting to happen.

Unlike my mate Martin I think Scamacca could be great 😂 I’ll await you reply lol

What about Retegui? Or are inter getting him too?

    1. I don’t know what happened to Retegui, he disappeared the same way everyone just suddenly wrote he is joining Inter, Real, everyone. 😀

For Scammacca, I can only say I really hope to see him wearing the Roma shirt. Can’t wait to see that official.

    2. Same story like Belotti, a lot of people here were calling for his signing. Dude is average now and he proved what I always said. Waste of time and money.

  6. “Cardinale gave an interview in 2020 at the Leaders in Sports Summit in Abu Dhabi. Within that interview, he talked about how RedBird had “gone deep” researching on investing in European football, by studying it for all of two years. He felt that he could create a multi-league, multi-club training academy system by purchasing clubs that would not be top clubs, but rather finish maybe sixth through 11th in their respective leagues, never in danger of relegation, but always creating a steady cashflow, so he could then pump the fans for cash, like he has done in the United States. He felt like that would be good for the “ecosystem” of football. (He also specifically referenced fans as “captive audiences” in stadiums for “multi-hour periods” to be “monetized.”)

    This is the REDBIRD WAY
