MN: Milan’s probable XI for Verona clash – only one change from Juve win

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Hellas Verona in the final game of the season on Sunday evening. In spite of already clinching a top-four finish, Stefano Pioli isn’t expected to make many changes to the starting XI.

The Rossoneri won’t have much to play for on Sunday evening, but if Inter were to lose against Torino on Saturday then third place would be up for grabs. In any case, Pioli isn’t expected to make many changes to the XI.

As reported by MilanNews, the manager should make just one change compared to the Juventus win, with Charles De Ketelaere set to start. This means that Brahim Diaz, who is set to leave the club, will be on the bench.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Krunic; Messias, De Ketelaere, Leao; Giroud.

It’s been a tough season for De Ketelaere and he sure could just a goal, even if it won’t change the verdict of his first year at Milan. There is less pressure on his shoulders for this game, so perhaps that will do him good.

  1. Respect to Pioli. He favours Diaz but still sees CDK as a part of Milan going forward. So could it be the time for CDK to do Pioli a favour?

    1. More like we’ve achieved our goals this season and Diaz is leaving, so why not give CDK additional playing time. The big question is, WTF is Messias starting again?

          1. Adli should, he has contract with Milan but Vranckx is only here on loan, he’ll just be returned, not redeemed.

      1. Yeah we achieved our goal and Diaz contributed massively to that with 7 goals and 7 assists.

Lets not forget that despite the fact that we want him to leave.

      1. So you would rather have exit-bound Diaz to take the last chance of this season? CdK barely get chance after World Cup.

        1. Not about player preference, the bottomline is that he already had enough chances to show his worth (even at the slightest glimpse) this season. Amassing total 1461 minutes with only 1 assist. Excuses like coming from smaller league balderdash, even Hauge performed a lot better on his 1st season (1231 minutes, 8 goals, 3 assists). And as far as I remember he didn’t come from the the big 3, hell even big 5 leagues.

Just call this season a day. Many of his ultras saying he should get enough pre season and all, okay, let’s do that and see. The more time he plays this season only worsen his mentality and lowering his value by the end of the day.

          1. Even Milan ultras would have wanted CdK to recover and shine. Only fake fans want Milan to have failed investment.

          2. Lol, have been supporting this club since ’97 is surely genuine kind of support. If you have supported a single club that long you can see things more clearly, set subjectivity and double standard apart.

Of course we’re all hoping for CdK to perform. If he performs, Milan will be helped, we’re all happy. But let’s be objective by saying his season is over. Let’s try again next season with a fresh start. I clearly stated that.

Let’s not get too attached to someone who’s not even been in Milan for a season. We’ve seen too many far more talented players than him went to Milan but failed. And that’s normal. Don’t push thing too hard just for the sake of our own satisfaction.

And for your comparison, CdK got 13 chances this season in playing more than 45 minutes. While Hauge, just 12. Numbers won’t lie. Subjectivity would.

          3. So what if 97? That is the same as me.

You should be objective too and consider that CdK is being played out of position while Hauge play on his natural position.

Look at CdK’s heatmap in 2021/2022, you will find out that he didn’t play centrally! He played on flanks, leaving the middle without heat mark. I have said before Milan sign him that he is not AM, he should have been used as RW.

          4. Well, I agree on that thing. That we should try CdK on different position. Playing him over and over again in the same role thru the same game play and strategy is just wrong. By doing that, nothing good will ever come. His mentality will become even lower, so as his market value. That’s my bottom line.

And the chance is extremely high (is not 100%) that Pioli will field him as our no. 10 again. That’s why I’m even more against the decision to play him.

        2. I will take it if it can make Pioli realize CdK is more affective attacking from flank. As the game is fluid, there will be moment where he is on the right flank.

          1. Tbf though Pioli never plays him on his natural position. He should play either as a fake 9 or a RW. Talking about his game time. He almost never plays with our main team players. Most of the time he is played with Origi as a striker and Rebic on LW. So, we can’t blame everything on the kid. Still very young and got so much room to improve with an experience playmaker like Kamada joining us he might be able to get back to his form like during his Club Brugge days.

  2. Please please please put CDK 90 minutes whether he good or not..if want send good bye to diaz, maybe he can come as RW..

  3. I really don’t understand this coach , as it’s the last game, and we are not fighting for anything, let all the other fringe players play

    1. 3rd place still up for grabs.
Inter currently 3rd with 69 pts.
      Milan 4th with 67 pts.
Milan can still finish 3rd on condition that they win against Verona and Inter lose to Torino.

Plus, finishing 3rd gives more prize money than 4th. (16.8M vs 14.2M euros)

      Understood?

  4. Calabria should be sold in my opinion. He is not good enough for Captain, does not motivate the team and is too slow with the ball and bad at defending. He should be the first player that leaves then Messias, Krunic, Braham, Balo toure and Rebic
