MN: Milan protect their core with 12 renewals since 2022 – one more is sought

The renewal of Rafael Leao’s contract was officially announced yesterday, and he became the 12th AC Milan player to extend their stay in the last year and a half.

As MilanNews writes, the Rossoneri’s revenues are growing more and more within a virtuous and sustainable path, and consequently investments are also growing too to keep the core pieces for the future together.

The memories of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Franck Kessie, Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessio Romagnoli’s exits are fading away, with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara doing a great job to armour the cornerstones of the project.

The latest renewal was Leao’s and that way the most difficult by some way, yet thanks to the will of the player and all involved it got over the line. Below is the list of extensions completed, in chronological order:

➤ 3 February 2022 – Matteo Gabbia – 30 June 2026
➤ 11 February 2022 – Theo Hernandez – 30 June 2026
➤ 18 July 2022 – Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 30 June 2023
➤ 5 August 2022 – Tommaso Pobega – 30 June 2027
➤ 12 August 2022 – Fikayo Tomori – 30 June 2027
➤ 8 September 2022 – Rade Krunic – June 30 2025
➤ 9 September 2022 – Sandro Tonali – June 30 2027
➤ 31 October 2022 – Stefano Pioli – June 30 2025
➤ 10 November 2022 – Pierre Kalulu – June 30, 2027
➤ 12 January 2023 – Ismael Bennacer – June 30 2027
➤ 19 April 2023 – Olivier Giroud – June 30 2024
➤ 2 June 2023 – Rafael Leao – June 30 2028

The report adds how the next renewal on the agenda is Mike Maignan, who they wish to lock down to a new deal until June 2028.
