MN: Milan-Raiola relations ‘explosive’ – Ibrahimovic renewal failure could trigger double blow

By Oliver Fisher -

The current stand-off between AC Milan and agent Mino Raiola could end up being a problem for the Rossoneri, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, the futures of both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gianluigi Donnarumma could be linked. The permanence of the Swede is the main focus at the moment as the Swede and Raiola have set a request of €7m net for a one-year deal.

Ibrahimovic’s stay would give greater certainty to the whole project of the club, hence the attention it is currently getting,  and Milan have not made contact with alternative profiles in case he were to reject.

The plan is to have the 38-year-old as the starter then Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao as the back-ups. Milan though will have to make an effort to reach a meeting point with Raiola and his client.

Any failure to renew Ibrahimovic could open up a domino situation that would seriously damage Milan, because as mentioned Donnarumma’s contract renewal is still at stake.

Raiola wants a release clause which is not higher than €50m, something that Milan do not seem keen on. Failure to show a serious effort to keep Ibrahimovic could ‘detonate’ the situation and make things incredibly hard regarding the renewal of the 21-year-old. The situation is described as being ‘on a knife edge’.
