MN: Milan could consider short-term renewal for Leao – the latest figures

By Isak Möller -

Rafael Leao is keen on staying at AC Milan and negotiations are at a very advanced stage. With a general agreement on the figures in place, the parties now need to sort the rest such as the length of the deal.

The Portuguese winger is arguably the most important player for Milan and since his deal will expire in 2024, renewal talks are underway. As reported by Pietro Mazzara, there hasn’t been this much optimism in the last year and a half.

There is a general agreement on the figures, which could reach €8m including the bonuses. An agreement needs to be found on the length of the deal, though, and Milan could even consider a short-term renewal (perhaps until 2025).

This would protect the Rossoneri from receiving low-ball offers from the clubs interested in Leao. Milan have made it clear that they don’t even negotiate for figures below €100m and even a short renewal would help them keep that stance.

Leao’s agent will be in Milano this week and his father is already there. As such, new updates could arrive very soon.

  1. Pay this guy $8m and secure a short term renewal. Make it 1 firm + 1 optional. Milan needs to learn from Chelsea whereby they have an automatic right to further renew 1 year.
