MN: Predicted Milan XI to face Bologna – Pulisic or Rabiot from start

Massimiliano Allegri is expected to make a few changes to the starting XI for tomorrow’s game against Bologna, with Koni De Winter potentially getting his debut.

The manager was very coy about his team selection during the pre-match presser, basically giving nothing away, and there have been conflicting reports on the matter as well. Now, however, there at least seems to be some idea of how Milan will line up.

As mentioned, De Winter could get his debut for the Rossoneri tomorrow, replacing Strahinja Pavlovic in the defence. Further up the pitch, it’s a battle between Adrien Rabiot and Christian Pulisic (currently 45-55%), according to the latest from MilanNews.

Predicted Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, De Winter; Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Fofana, Estupinan; Pulisic, Gimenez.

If Pulisic starts, then Ruben Loftus-Cheek will play in midfield to the right of Luka Modric. However, if Rabiot stars, then the Englishman will play in a role behind Santiago Gimenez. It will also change the tactics a bit, so that’s something for Allegri to carefully evaluate.

The likes of Samuele Ricci and Christopher Nkunku will be good options off the bench, though the latter only has about 30 minutes in his legs. Still, with his qualities, he could come on and make a big difference.

  1. Would be great to see Koni De Winter. I have a good feeling about him, but of course we havnet really seen him yet in rossoneri.

I don’t understand playing both Fofana and Loftus. With Rabiot I actually find it hard to fit either in the starting XL. Max must see something 🤷🏼‍♂️

I would play Ricci-Modric-Rabiot in the centre.

We will see. I look forward to seeing minutes from De Winter, Nkunku and Rabiot hopefully. Also I think Gimenez will come strong.

    1. Modric – Ricci – Rabiot is our best option but we have no subs for either on the bench but two headless runners in Fofana and RLC.

      1. Yes that is the strongest midfield. Ricci as no.6 and Modric-Rabiot as mezzalas. Then bring in Fofana and R-L-C for Modric/Rabiot in 65-70th minute when they tire.

Pulisic-Gimenez up front then throw in Nkunku in the 70th.

Rabiot links the mid, Pulisic runs in spaces.

    1. Problem with this is that neither Fofana Ricci or Modric are fast enough to play half winger given Rabiot in this formation would be like a false 9/ winger.
