MN: Milan’s predicted XI for Napoli clash – Loftus-Cheek one of two changes

AC Milan will be up against Napoli on Sunday evening and according to a report, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will return to the starting eleven as one of two changes.

Loftus-Cheek hasn’t played a game from start since December, but after doing well at Milanello since the injury recovery, he’s ready to get back on the horse. According to MilanNews, he will be one of two changes for the important game against Napoli tomorrow.

The backline will remain intact, with Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw preferred at the heart of it, while the only change in midfield is due to Yunus Musah’s suspension. Tijjani Reijnders will play in the tandem instead, with Loftus-Cheek as the No.10 for the night.

The second change will be in attack, more specifically the No.9 role. Santiago Gimenez has struggled to impress lately but the opposite can be said for Tammy Abraham, who came off the bench against Como and assisted the winner. As such, he will play from start.

Predicted Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Gabbia, Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Bondo, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Abraham.

Perhaps aside from Loftus-Cheek, as some expected Youssouf Fofana to start alongside Warren Bondo, there is nothing surprising about the starting eleven. Indeed, the reports this morning have been that Conceicao will keep things simple, not willing to experiment at this stage of the season.

  1. What is RCL doing on AMC? He is useless there. I really hope he will cover Reijnders back in this game and not the other way around.

  2. Guys guys, i think it’s just how it is written. In reality it’ll be a double pivot between RLC and Bondo. Tiji will be AM as always. That’s what i saw on another site. I would’ve done Bondo and Fofana as double pivot with Tiji as AM. But, i can understand the coach wanting to have two big guys (physically big) at the pivot.

    1. I hope you’re right. Because Bondo-Reijnders seems like an experiment, despite Conceicao apparently not wanting to experiment at this stage. In fact, Bondo-RLC is an experiment too.

  3. I wouldn’t completely write off RLC for us just yet. He did well last season. These last couple of games for the season, imo, should determine is future at the club. I rate him, others don’t.

    1. He’s not a bad player, but he’s always on the treatment table. This is his real problem. We can’t afford that.

  4. RLC will never be useful. He is too big to be as fast and agile as the n. 10 needs, and he is not physically strong enough to be useful as a defender or defensive midfielder. Same problem he had at Chelsea. He is just not useful.
