MN: Milan’s risky Kaio Jorge strategy backfires as Juventus swoop to secure agreement

By Oliver Fisher -

The Kaio Jorge saga continues to rumble on with three clubs in the running to land him at the moment, according to a report.

MilanNews reports that Milan spoke with the entourage of the player and managed to get a verbal agreement over personal terms, while Juventus obtained a written agreement with the player and his agents on Monday which puts the Bianconeri in an advantageous position.

Santos would have liked to accept the €5m offer from Benfica – which is at the moment the highest bid received – but it seems the player is not convinced. Milan will not participate in auctions and their position remains the same as in recent weeks: either the player arrives in January for free (his contract expires on December 31st) or this summer for a small compensation fee of €1-2m.

It is a risky strategy because in the meantime other teams have had time to enter the race, so Milan may now turn towards other solutions for the attack in the next few days.

  1. It was evident from day 1 that Milan did not intend to pay a cent to Santos. This strategy does take us nowhere. It would be a massive surprise to transfer decent quality players with only ‘loan with option to buy’ strategy. After the Tonali episode, I wonder if there are clubs to risk doing business with Milan

    1. Elliot pinch cash like shit…no club will sell to us because we do not keep promises and only want cheap deals like loans with option to buy..Milan will miss top 4 next season and have another decade in the shadows while Inter and Juve win everything

  2. I have watched him play a few matches, I can see why they don’t want to spend any money. He isn’t a real attacker, doesn’t score a lot of goals and has to grow a lot to live up to the hype. Not even comparable to Neymar that was a top player while playing for Santos, this guy is maybe at 20% of young Neymar. If we can get him for free there is no risk, if we have to pay it could be money thrown into the pit. So, maybe it would be better to save that money and use it for Vlahović next season, his contract will be expiring in 2023 and next season he will probably be on the market. Perfect replacment for Ibra.

  3. It’s not even about this player Kaio. This is a pattern we have with every player – we are interested and can get them for low fee and then we still do not want to pay the $$. It happened in January with koné and instead he went to Broussia Montenblach. Seems like unless they are free or on loan we can’t do anything. So sad. If we cannot spend 5-6M on a bright young player we are screwed. What more can we ask for. It’s not 20-30M it’s 5-6M lol. So fkn sad. We do all the work and scout the player then Elliot says no. Moncada should leave and go to a bigger club that can actually buy players he scouts.
