MN: Pioli given big double boost ahead of Lille clash as Milan duo return to training

By Oliver Fisher -

After seemingly having juggled a crisis in every department so far this season, Stefano Pioli is getting closer to having a full squad back.

Pioli has only had two fit central defenders at his disposal for the majority of the season with Alessio Romagnoli having battled an injury early in the season, Mateo Musacchio out after surgery and Leo Duarte and Matteo Gabbia both having contracted COVID.

According to MilanNews, Gabbia has recovered from the symptoms of the Coronavirus and returned to training with the rest of his team-mates on Tuesday. Therefore, the possibility of seeing him on the bench in Thursday night’s match against Lille in the Europa League is growing.

Meanwhile, MilanNews reports how Castillejo did not leave for the trip to face Udinese on Sunday due to muscle strain. The Spaniard, however, is now much better and today he also returned to group training suggesting he will be available for Thursday’s game.
