MN: Playmaker back at the top of Milan’s list – Arsenal and Bayern keen; key issue must be resolved

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have got Dominik Szoboszlai at the top of their list if they were to be forced into replacing Hakan Calhanoglu, a report claims.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Szoboszlai could leave Salzburg in January or June, and Milan have returned to put the Hungary international ‘at the top of their list of possible signings’.

The Rossoneri management are very attentive to the best young players in Europe and Szoboszlai falls fully into this category, and it is worth remembering that the 20-year-old has twice been close to moving to the San Siro before.

Back in January 2020 the then-CFO Zvonimir Boban had contacts with his agent, and then in the summer when the Rangnick revolution seemed imminent the German coach had some advanced talks with the player.

Could it be third time lucky? Szoboszlai has a clause of around 25 million euros and the performance at very high levels in this start of the season have attracted the interest of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig plus many clubs that have not been named in the media.

Milan would like to try but must first resolve the Calhanoglu issue, because from a numerical point of view the squad would be complete if he were to renew. While there are problems with that, however, the door remains open for Dominik.
