MN: Probable Milan XI vs. Frosinone – If it is not broken, do not fix it

AC Milan face Frosinone on Saturday, on Serie A Matchday 23, and reports suggest that Stefano Pioli has made his decisions about his lineup.

The draw against Bologna, all things considered, feels more like a defeat than a draw given the two missed penalties.

With this, Pioli has to prove his credentials against Frosinone and encourage his side to prove their ruthlessness, to make the game against the Rossoblu appear to be a blip, rather than a larger problem.

As MilanNews reports, there are not believed to be any changes in defence, even if it seemed likely that Davide Calabria could lose his position in the starting eleven to Alessandro Florenzi. Mike Maignan will start in goal, Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia and Theo Hernandez make up the five.

Whilst Ismael Bennacer has recovered, he only returned to full training on Thursday and could play a part from the substitute bench. Pioli also has decided to continue with the double pivot of Yacine Adli and Tijjani Reijnders.

The attacking lineup also remains the same. Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao will start on the wings, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will play in an advanced midfielder role, and Olivier Giroud will lead the line for the Rossoneri.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Hernandez; Reijnders, Adli; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.

  1. Fair enough, but I’d personally start Florenzi more often. He’s been better than Calabria on every occasion I’ve seen either of them play.

  2. This is very good team. It has potential, if keep all best players, to be very strong in next 10 years and so. Specifically in Serie a.

    1. No it’s not, this double pivot which can’t defend can only work against relegation team/midtable teams, but the lack of a proper CDM will cost us against big teams
