Ahead of AC Milan’s clash against Frosinone, a report has suggested that there is still much to decide for Stefano Pioli when it comes to his selections.
Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) have suggested that the starting eleven is not yet set in stone after the disappointing result in the game against Bologna, which could change a few selections.
There are no shocks about the fact that Mike Maignan will start in goal, and Matteo Gabbia, Simon Kjaer, and Theo Hernandez are guaranteed starters. However, Davide Calabria faces competition from Alessandro Florenzi, and he could lose his position from the start.
In the midfield, Tijjani Reijnders is considered ‘untouchable’ and will start alongside either Yacine Adli or Yunus Musah, with Pioli yet to decide who will be given the nod. Alternatively, there is a chance that Ismael Bennacer could partner the Dutchman, with confidence about his availability rising.
Ahead of them, there will be no changes. Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic will start on the wings. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, as is a commodity now, will start in an advanced role behind Olivier Giroud.
Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria (Florenzi), Gabbia, Kjaer, Hernandez; Adli (Musah/Bennacer), Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.
Giroud doesn’t look sharp when he starts every game. Case in point, last game.
Please start Florenzi over Calabria. He has been the better player this season. I don’t think Frosinone is a big offensive threat, and Florenzi offers more going forward.
Why is Reijnders considered untouchable?
