MN: Probable Milan XI to face Atalanta – Pioli to put faith in forward duo

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will be looking to make it two wins from two when they make the short journey to face Atalanta in Bergamo tomorrow night, and some team news has emerged.

MilanNews reports how the main team news in terms of injuries is that Sandro Tonali is back from a muscle problem but Stefano Pioli will be without Rade Krunic as the Bosnian has remedied a strain in his left thigh.

Pioli will however be able to call upon the usual back five players of Mike Maignan in goal plus Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez in defence, who will be hoping for better than the two goals they conceded against Udinese.

Tonali will come back into the line-up hoping to net at the Gewiss Stadium again and he will partner up with Ismael Bennacer in the double pivot, with Tommaso Pobega perhaps promoted to the role of impact midfielder off the bench in Krunic’s absence.

In the attack there is more of a dilemma given how eager Charles De Ketelaere, Yacine Adli, Olivier Giroud and Divock Origi are to get on from the first minute. However, it should be Rafael Leao on the left, Brahim Diaz as the playmaker and Junior Messias on the right.

Ante Rebic will lead the line again after he netted a brace in the game against the Friulians last Saturday night, with the aforementioned summer additions ready to make an impact off the bench.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Messias, Diaz, Leao; Rebic.
