MN: Reflections over Colombo’s future ongoing as two clubs show interest

By Oliver Fisher -

The future of Lorenzo Colombo has not yet been decided but there are two sides within Serie A who are pushing to sign him above all, a report claims.

After returning from his loan spell at Lecce last season in which he scored six goals, it became clear early on in the summer that the plan was for Stefano Pioli to evaluate Colombo in the preseason friendlies before deciding whether another loan is needed.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, the future of the 21-year-old is not yet certain and all the parties involved – the management, the player and his agents – continue discussing what the best move it.

Among the various solutions for a loan spell are Genoa and Cagliari who have both just been promoted from Serie B and would guarantee playing time that he might not get with the Rossoneri. However, a stay cannot be excluded either.

  1. We urgently need a deadly and killer striker like Basten, Weah, Sheva. No need for another winger. Too many of them already. 1 new strong DM and DC will be perfect.

    1. Lacazette was my thought at point but doubt he would leave Lyon. But if he did come he would have no issue getting along with some of the players.

  2. The question is whether he’s better than Okafor in the striker role, and I’m not sure he is.
The other question is whether we are planning to have him as a rotation striker next year or just as a backup.

If we move to a 4-3-3, one of the three strikers might end up seeing very little play time, especially if Pulisic is also used as a false nine, unless we’re afraid that Giroud will get injured.

In this context, Colombo’s worries and his desire to go on loan are genuine and the situation needs to be clarified as soon as possible.

It’s very likely that management is looking to get another striker once they offload Origi and they are keeping Colombo around until they get the new striker so that they don’t get blackmailed by other teams to pay very high prices for their strikers.

  3. leiht ihn an ein super league team aus ich bin kein schweizer aber ich weiss dass sie gut ausbilden können zum beispiel young boys fc basel oder fc luzern
